Over the past few decades, we have witnessed immense growth in research examining the multifaceted ways that race and racism shape health and longevity. The COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement further centered our attention on the inequities experienced by Black and Brown people in the United States. In this symposium on race, racism, and health we will: (1) explore current theoretical frameworks; (2) learn about inclusive approaches and data available to study racism; (3) examine innovative methodological approaches; and (4) imagine the future of the study of race, racism, and health.
